Apply for Four-Year Scholarships
High school students who are interested in a four-year ROTC scholarship should begin the process in the spring of their junior year or early in the senior year by going to the United States Army's ROTC site to start the online application process. Candidates must be qualified academically, physically and medically to earn an ROTC scholarship and are evaluated on their attributes as a scholar, athlete and leader. Contact the recruiting operations officer at (804) 287-6066 for assistance in the process and to schedule scholarship interviews with the professor of military science.
Students generally receive their ROTC acceptances in three waves. If they have applied for the scholarship and have met Richmond’s Early Decision deadline, they should receive scholarship awards from Cadet Command by December 15. If they have applied for the scholarship and have met Richmond’s Winter Early Decision deadline, they should receive scholarship awards from Cadet Command by February 15. And if they applied to the University of Richmond, or another regional university through the regular decision process, they should expect to receive scholarship awards from Cadet Command by May 17.
