William Wolford

    Mr. William Wolford grew up in a military family has lived all around the Continental United States.  He attended Longwood University where he decided to join the Virginia National Guard in April of 2015.  Since joining the National Guard, He has served in several historic units such as Alpha Co. 1/116, also known as, “The Bedford Boys,” as well as HHC 3/116.

    In his military career, he has deployed to Africa, conducting missions in Operation Enduring Freedom – Horn of Africa.  During this time, he was a gunner for a mortar section supporting special operations.  Throughout his career, he has been a M249 Gunner, 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar gunner.  He has also held positions such as Mortar Section Leader, Fire Direction Computer, and has been acting Platoon Sergeant.

    Mr. Wolford began his time at Longwood University and Hampden-Sydney College as a Military Science Instructor in October 2023, where he serves as a Military Science Instructor for the program’s ROTC Cadets.
