Milorad Jovanov
Military Science Instructor, University of Richmond & Randolph-Macon College

Staff Sergeant Milorad Jovanov began his ROTC assignment to the University of Richmond as MS I Military Science Instructor in May, 2018. He was born in what was then Yugoslavia, and is the present day Republic of Serbia. SSG Jovanov holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ashford University in Criminal Justice. His Military education includes Advance Leaders Course, Battle Staff and Equal Opportunity Leaders course. SSG Jovanov completed a Master Education Course in 2019. 

SSG Jovanov started his military service by enlisting in the Army on 17 September 2009 at the Margate Recruitment Station in Broward County, Florida. SSG Jovanov enlisted as a Human Resource Specialist Soldier, conducting his Basic Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. After Basic Training, he received orders to Fort Jackson South Carolina for Advance Individualized Training (AIT) as Human Resource Specialist. Completing his AIT, he received MOS graduation certification as well as an advancement waver to Private First Class along with a Certificate of Achievement for outstanding leadership. 

SSG Jovanov’s assignments include; Camp Casey, Republic of South Korea, from 2009-2013, Fort Riley, Kansas, from 2013-2018, where he deployed to Kuwait, Camp Buehring, in support of Operation Spartan Shield in December 2015. He also conducted a rotational deployment to Camp Hovey Republic of South Korea in 2017. He served in staff positions as the S1 NCOIC for more than 33 months and BDE S1 floor NCOIC for six months. Currently, he is assigned to ROTC Cadet Command, University of Richmond, from 10 May 2018 to present. 

SSG Jovanov is highly proficient in foreign languages such as Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian. He can read the Serbian Cyrillic alphabet and the Croatian Latin alphabets with high proficiency according to the Army Foreign Language Proficiency Test conducted in December 2019.  He is married to Barbara Jovanov and they have three children.
