The Military Science and Leadership Program at the University of Richmond, the home of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, or ROTC, is dedicated to commissioning high caliber and diverse future officer leadership for the U.S. Army from the University of Richmond and its partnership schools.
Cadets can complete any degree program but take courses in military science and leadership. Successful graduates are guaranteed to complete the program having demonstrated a capacity for scholastic, athletic and leadership excellence. The program produces lieutenants of character, each with a breadth of perspective, who are confident they will have the skills necessary to be successful at the Leadership Development and Assessment Course (LDAC) and as Army leaders in a global environment. Students remain committed to the Army during the duration of their obligation and remain open-minded about further service. All students bring experiential, ethnic and cultural diversity to the Officer Corps.
Taking advantage of an ROTC program enveloped by a liberal arts institution gives students the freedom to take advantage of study abroad and other experiential learning opportunities, as well as the Airborne, Air Assault, Mountain Warfare and Northern Warfare programs typically found in ROTC programs. A liberal arts education combined with an emphasis in military science and leadership prepare students exceptionally well for graduate school and a wide variety of careers.
