Application Process
Students should expect to complete the application process in the following steps:
- Apply for an ROTC Scholarship online.
- Contact Lt. Col. Gillem in the UR ROTC Office.
- Complete your DODMERB - CALL 800-841-2706 if not yet scheduled.
- Take the Army Physical Fitness Test at your high school.
- Submit physical test scores.
- Complete the interview and Cadet Command Survey with Lt. Col. Gillem.
- Apply to the university.
- Visit the university and ROTC Department.
- Be accepted by the University.
- Have an overnight visit with a UR ROTC Cadet.
- Maintain contact with the UR ROTC Office monthly.
- Prepare for the Army Physical Fitness Test and Height/Weight Standards.
- Take and pass the APFT with at least 60 points in each event.
- Present proof of citizenship (birth certificate).
- Present bank routing infomation and account number for Direct Deposit.
- Contract in an official ceremony at UR ROTC Department.
Students generally receive their ROTC acceptances in three waives. If they have applied for the scholarship and have met Richmond’s Early Decision deadline, they should receive scholarship awards from Cadet Command by December 15. If they have applied for the scholarship and have met Richmond’s Winter Early Decision deadline, they should receive scholarship awards from Cadet Command by February 15. And if they applied to the University of Richmond, or another regional university through the regular decision process, they should expect to receive scholarship awards from Cadet Command by May 17. All students attend the Contracting Ceremony during Orientation Week in August.
